Anne Arden McDonald will give a free talk on April 3
Experimental photographer Anne Arden McDonald will be at Lafayette College April 2–4 as a visiting artist working with students. While here, she will meet with advanced art students, art classes, and work with students from the community. She will give an Artist Talk at noon Wednesday, April 3 in room 108 of the Williams Center for the Arts, 317 Hamilton St.
Her visit is part of Lafayette’s Third Street Artist-In-Residence Program, which is funded by Amy Smith and the AKS Foundation as well as Lafayette’s Community-Based Teaching Program. Some of her work will be displayed in the Williams Visual Arts Building on North Third Street.
Both talk and exhibit are free and open to the public.
McDonald works in a wide range of mediums including sculpture, photography, drawing, and installation work. She was born in London, England and grew up in Atlanta, Ga. From age 15-30 she made self-portraits, for which she is best known, building installations in the landscape or abandoned interiors and making private performances for her camera in these spaces. Her photography reflects her interest in installation and performance.
In the past decade, she has had 30 solo exhibitions in 10 countries and has been published extensively, including a book, which came out in 2004. Her work is in the collections of six major museums and represented by several galleries, including Marcello Marvelli in New York and Photo Eye in Santa Fe.
