Join officials and area organizations for The Mini-Conference on Cybersecurity with top experts Kevin Mandia ’92 and Erik Avakian at Lafayette College Monday, June 15 in the Wilson Room, Pfenning Alumni Center.
The event is free of charge and open to the public. Seating is still available but advance registration is required (register online or via email to PolicyStudies@lafayette.edu). Check-in begins at 3 p.m. with talks at 3:30 p.m. and a complimentary mixer at 5:30 p.m.
Mandia, president of FireEye, Inc. and renowned global authority on cybersecurity issues, will discuss “On the Front Lines of the Cyber Battlefield.” After responding to hundreds of incidents during the past two decades, he will share emerging trends and measures that organizations can take to protect against the next generation of computer security breaches.
A Lafayette computer science graduate, Mandia holds a master’s in forensic science from George Washington University. He is co-author of Incident Response: Investigating Computer Crime and articles for The International Journal of Cyber Crime. He has been featured on CNN’s “Talkback Live” as well as news programs on NBC, CBS, and Fox. He completed the Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management Program in February 2013.
Avakian, chief information security officer for The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, will discuss “The Cybersecurity Threat Landscape and Best Practices.” He will focus on methods and security practices organizations can implement to safeguard their assets, avoid advanced persistent threats, and other security and privacy concerns.
The event is sponsored by the Policy Studies Program and the IDEAL Center for Innovation at Lafayette College, the Easton Area Chamber of Commerce, the Pennsylvania Governor’s Office of Homeland Security, the Manufacturing Resource Center, and the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.
