Oechsle Hall's auditorium hosts events throughout the year at Lafayette College

‘Pull of Gravity’ documents release of thousands of men and women from jails each year

Lafayette College and the U.S. Attorney’s Office will co-host a screening of the documentary Pull of Gravity from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 in the Oechsle Hall auditorium, room 224.

The video focuses directly on issues involving offenders reentering society and speaks to the challenges and obstacles they face after release. More than 700,000 people are released from prison each year. They return home where they face the pull of the streets (or gravity) back to the lifestyle that led to their incarceration, which is why, within three years, 67 percent re-offend.

Following the documentary, there will be a panel discussion featuring the filmmakers, a representative of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and others.

The event is free and open to the public but reservations are required. For tickets go to: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/5689543578#
