Tour de Ville prompts participants to explore Easton, College Hill and Campus

What would Senior Week at Lafayette College be without graduates paying final homage to downtown Easton, their adopted home for the past four years?

Tour de Ville, a photo scavenger hunt that runs from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, uses history, puzzles and riddles as clues to guide members of the Class of 2014 throughout Easton, College Hill and Lafayette’s campus. Created this year by Carlos Barata ’14 with involvement from College President Alison Byerly, Easton Mayor Sal Panto Jr. and others, the Tour de Ville was inspired by the Great Urban Race. Student teams of 4 to 6 are encouraged to dress in theme.

President Byerly and Mayor Panto will be judging each team’s musical chemistry during a karaoke contest from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Easton School of Rock, 19 Bank St. Teams will receive points for successful photo clue matches, team spirit and dress.

Businesses will offer free food and drink specials at downtown locations from noon to 2:45 p.m. Some of the locations include Bachmann Tavern, State Theatre, Quadrant Book Mart & Coffee House, Mesa Modern Mexican, Cheeburger Cheeburger and the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument.

The winning team will receive tickets to the concert of touring pop duo Tegan and Sara at the Levitt Pavilion at SteelStacks in Bethlehem on June 23 compliments of ArtsQuest. Follow the race on Twitter @LafCol and Facebook www.facebook.com/LafayetteCollege.

Click here for other Senior Week activities including a keynote speech by Julie Powell, author of Julie & Julia, which chronicles her yearlong adventure of cooking through Julia Child’s cookbook. Julie will engage students in a cooking demonstration of her favorite recipe.
