S
et in the year 1954, My Favorite Year centers around Benjy Stone, a freshman sketch writer for a live television variety show starring King Kaiser. Benjy is assigned the unfortunate task of looking after one of the show’s guest stars Alan Swann, a movie idol whose career was disrupted by his addictions, and Benjy soon finds himself involved in a sequence of shenanigans as he tries to keep Swann celibate and sober for the broadcast. Based on the hilarious 1982 film, with music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, My Favorite Year is sure to please and entertain audiences just as it has since it originally opened on Broadway.

Each year, the Marquis Players raise more than $6,000 for local charities, including Third Street Alliance, Safe Harbor and Turning Point, and Lafayette’s Dan O’Neil Memorial Fund.

All aspects of the production, from set design to fundraising to choreography, are completely run by students. The group is advised by Jessica Goldblat, senior assistant director of admissions.

The cast and production staff includes Lafayette students from 11 states and local area, including Phillipsburg (N.J.), Mt. Bethel (Pa.) and Bethlehem (Pa.).
