Producer Leni Stern to speak with audience before performance on Nov. 9

Comprised of three of Africa’s most exciting women vocalists, Acoustic Africa will perform at Lafayette College’s Williams Center for the Arts on Friday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m.

Guitarist and producer Leni Stern will host a curator’s chat before the show at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $18 and can be purchased by calling the box office at (610) 330-5009 weekdays between the hours of noon to 2 p.m. and 4-5 p.m.

The group’s primary vocalist and dancer is Dobet Gnahoré, whose talent has earned her a reputation for being one of the most vibrant performers in contemporary world music. She is joined on tour by Manu Gallo, acclaimed as vocalist and bassist for Zap Mama, and Cameroonian singer Kareyce Fotso, whose music is an intriguing combination of Afro-pop, Blues and traditional African music.

The power of the women’s voices backed by an ensemble of traditional African instruments creates an exciting hybrid world of ancestry, innovation, and discovery.

WDIY 88.1 FM, Lehigh Valley Community Public Radio is the media partner for the concert.
