Noche Flamenca features Soledad Barrio at Lafayette CollegeSoledad Barrio at Lafayette College

Spain’s Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca, one of the most authentic flamenco touring companies in the world, will perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Lafayette College’s Williams Center for the Arts, 317 Hamilton St.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling the box office at (610) 330-5009 weekdays from noon to 2 p.m., 4 to 5 p.m. and one hour before the show.

Formed in 1993, Noche Flamenca is under the direction of Martin Santangelo and his wife, star dancer and Bessie winner Soledad Barrio. Barrio has drawn praise from dance critics around the globe including Alastair Macaulay of The New York Times who wrote, “I can think of no current ballet star in the world as marvelous as she.”

The dancers, guitarists and vocalists of Noche Flamenca display the very heart and soul of one of the worlds’ most complex and mysterious art forms through a passionate and spell-binding performance devoid of tricks or gimmicks.

The performance will be preceded by a master class in flamenco dance on Saturday afternoon (time and location upon request at 610-330-5010) and a 7 p.m. pre-performance talk on flamenco dance in room 108 of the Williams Center. Both events are supported by funds from the “START” program supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
